The Pink Rider by Edgar J. Pill
Edgar Jerzy Pill was born on September 26, 1980, in Toruń. He studied painting and polychrome sculpture conservation at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. He obtained his diploma in 2007. As a conservator, he cooperated in the implementation of works in facilities of primary importance for Polish culture. He grew up in a family with artistic traditions, from an early age he learned the secrets of painting and in this field, following the footsteps of his father and grandfather, he remained faithful.
He has always produce his need for artistic expression in abstract painting. For several years he has devoted himself exclusively to creative activity, combining knowledge and workshop skills acquired during conservation studies with faithfulness to his own inner voice.
Edgar Jerzy Pill’s painting is characterized by an extraordinary charge of energy and a hypnotizing effect on the viewer. There is vital power in his paintings, an affirmation of life in all its complexity and mystery. It is no coincidence that the exhibition summarizing 20 years of his creative work was entitled “Color mapping”. These two words accurately characterize what seems to be the essence of this work, namely the focus on the process and the fascination with color.
Edgar J. Pill’s works are in many private collections in Poland and abroad. He is the author and co-author of over twenty exhibitions. He lives and works in Toruń, which he considers to be a treasury of inspirations that have largely shaped his aesthetic sensitivity and painting style. His artistic temperament also manifests itself in activities aimed at animating culture, such as organizing wild verbiages in Toruń’s public space, which perfectly serve the visual education of the inhabitants and popularize contemporary non-figurative painting.
